License and Conditions of Use (free version)
This is a legal agreement in effect between Wildcrest Associates and you the user by virtue of your possession of the Free Version of EditList 1.0 ("EditList" in what follows unless otherwise indicated). It applies only to the Free Version of EditList and not to the Product Version of EditList or Source Code Version of EditList which, if purchased, are governed by separate licenses. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions then you may not install, use, or distribute this version of EditList.
1. License and Ownership
The Free Version of EditList is NOT public domain but rather is a licensed software product. EditList, including its accompanying files and documentation, is owned and copyrighted by Wildcrest Associates, © Copyright 1998, all rights reserved.
Wildcrest Associates grants the user a free nonexclusive license to download and use the Free Version of EditList for evaluation and development as well as for any lawful non-commercial purposes provided the terms of this agreement are met. To deploy EditList in any commercial context, either in-house or externally, you must obtain a license for either the Product Version or the Source Code Version of EditList.
2. Distribution
You may reproduce and freely distribute copies of the EditList distribution file (.zip) to third parties provided you do not do so for profit and each copy is unaltered and complete.
You may not reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, or modify this software or its accompanying documentation in any way.
You may reproduce and redistribute a copy of the 9 class
files in the folder com\wildcrest\EditList as part of any non-commercial
Java-based software developed and licensed by you that itself uses EditList
provided:
a) your software has clearly distinct
and added functionality,
b) you are responsible for all technical
support,
c) the EditList application programming
interfaces are not documented, exposed, or otherwise made available by
your software,
d) you do not allow recipients of
your software to reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, or copy portions
from your software allowing them to gain separate access to EditList or
any parts of it, and
e) attribution is given to Wildcrest
Associates (http://www.wildcrest.com) in any documentation or screen displays
where other credits appear.
The EditList.jar file may only be used in building your software. It may be distributed as part of the overall EditList distribution file (.zip), but neither the .jar file or any files from within the .jar or .zip files may be distributed separately, except for the .class files as described above.
The source code samples included with the EditList documentation may be freely used, modified, incorporated, and distributed without restriction as part of any software that uses EditList itself.
3. Warranty Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
EditList is licensed to the user on an "AS IS" basis. Wildcrest Associates MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THIS SOFTWARE AND ITS ASSOCIATED FILES AND DOCUMENTATION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. WILDCREST ASSOCIATES DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE OPERATION OF THIS SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. You the user are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of this software for your use and accept full responsibility for all risks associated with its use. Wildcrest Associates is not and will not be liable for any direct, indirect, special or incidental damages including loss of profits or interruption of business however caused, even if Wildcrest Associates has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
4. Support and Source Code Licensing
Wildcrest Associates does not provide formal customer
support for EditList. Bug reports and feature requests are encouraged,
please use email. Responses are not guaranteed and no assurances
can be given as to when or if problems will be addressed. Customers
incorporating EditList into software for deployment or sale are encouraged
to purchase a license for the EditList source code which will enable self-support,
debugging, and modifications or extensions to the base functionality.
